HAROLD SHURTLEFF

Mr. Shurtleff is running for a seat in the County Commission representing district 3

Anti-Government and John Birch Society Background

Harold Shurtleff was a 26 year local director of The John Birch Society, an extreme anti-government group. While serving as a field director for the John Birch Society he promoted fighting racial desegregation in American society.  He was also found to be fueling  paranoia and suspicion of foreigners, promoting getting out of the United Nations, the global warming hoax, and questioning the official story of 9/11.

Supports January 6 Insurrectionists

Mr. Shurtleff is the co-founder of Camp Constitution (Sponsored by The John Birch Society)

He also supports the cause of Jan. 6 insurrectionists The group chartered six buses to transport about 300 people to D.C. that day.

In strange contrast, Hal Shurtleff also believes the insurrection wasn’t led by Trump supporters but was instead “a Soros-funded false flag act to distract attention from massive election fraud and a stolen election.” The post also suggests that in the aftermath multiple police officers didn’t die by suicide but instead were killed as part of the conspiracy cover-up.

Promotes "Straight Pride"

Mr. Shurtleff was a guest speaker at a Straight Pride parade held in Boston in 2019.

Attacked Black Lives Matter

Shurtleff has also called Black Lives Matter “a new religious cult” (one of many posts attacking BLM). From Hal Shurtleff’s Facebook post of 8-24-2022:  “Memo to the "non-partisan" Citizens for Belknap County:  Tell your members to take down their Black Lives Matter signs when claiming to be against "extremists.”
