Help Choose Reasonable, Responsible Representation for Belknap County in the September 8 Primary Election
The Sept. 8th version makes recommendations for ONLY the contested county PRIMARY races in District 2 (Meredith), District 4 (Belmont), and District 6 (Gilford, Gilmanton & Laconia Ward 2.
HOWEVER, for candidates in any district who have returned their 2026 Candidate Questionnaire on important Belknap County issues, their answers have been posted, but we have not yet made recommendations. All candidates will have recommendations for the Voter's Guide General Election version.
It’s our mission to help our citizens make their own educated choices for reasonable, responsible candidates who will be good stewards for our county budget, care for our elders and less fortunate residents, and protect our county's resources.
Likewise, we are educating voters to avoid marginal candidates such as fringe Free Staters and extreme Libertarians pretending to be Republican candidates. It’s our hope that voters can avoid being duped into electing candidates who have, or may, create chaos in county institutions like county-owned Gunstock Mountain Resort and our county nursing home.

Some Questionnaires May Be Missing. Here's Why:
Our questionnaire was released to both parties on the same day in July. Belknap Republican Committee leadership instructed their candidates not to complete it, though several candidates wisely and thoughtfully did anyway.
Our bipartisan steering committee agreed that for candidates who did NOT show voters the courtesy of sharing their positions on important county issues, the highest recommendation possible was ⚠️CAUTION / Incomplete Information.
Candidates may still submit their questionnaires, and their recommendation may be changed, if warranted.

Emergency PRIMARY Write-Ins for County Attorney & Treasurer!
Citizens for Belknap has just learned of an extreme libertarian write-in campaign for two county positions! And you can help shut it down at the Primary!
The GOP did not nominate a candidate for County Attorney, County Treasurer or County Probate by the June deadline.
BLOCK Libertarian and Anti-Gunstock Extremist Norm Silber
For the GOP Primary ballot, anti-Gunstock libertarian extremist Norm Silber is mounting a write-in campaign for County Attorney against Democratic incumbent KeithCormier.
Sensible Republicans and Unaffiliated voters taking a GOP primary ballot, we STRONGLY advise you to WRITE IN Keith Cormier on the Republican ballot. If he wins, he would block Silber from appearing on the General Election ballot.
BLOCK Anti-Gunstock Libertarian David Strang
Also on the GOP ballot, Dr. David Strang, who had to be forcibly removed from the Gunstock Area Commission, is a write-in for County Treasurer. We are advising that Republicans and Unaffiliated voters write in former state rep Travis O'Hara. If O'Hara wins, he would block Strang from being on the General Election ballot.
